# How to set a different free shipping threshold per Shopify market or country

> Give a tier its own threshold in a Shopify market, country or region, or turn it off there. Customers see the threshold of their market, in their own currency.

## Where market exceptions are

Market exceptions sit under the tier sentence, on the **Except on** line, followed by **+ Adapt a market**. The line appears when your store has at least two Shopify markets.

Each exception is a chip, such as “Germany · €60” or “Canada · disabled”. Markets without a chip use the tier’s own threshold.

## Add an exception

1. Click **+ Adapt a market** and search. Pick a market, or directly one of its countries (“Europe — Belgium”): you don’t need to adapt the market first.
2. Set the threshold for that market, or tick **Disable goal for this market**.
3. Changes apply to the draft right away. Click **Save** to put them online.

Click a chip to edit it, or **Remove adaptation** to delete it.

## Market, country and region: what is inherited

Markets and countries can each carry their own value.

- A country with no value of its own follows its market. Europe can be at €60 while Belgium is at €55: Belgian customers follow Belgium, other European customers follow Europe. The market chip shows how many countries differ (“· 2 countries apart”).
- **+ Add regional adaptation**, from the chip of an adapted market, adds a region. A region follows its market until it sets its own value.
- The primary market can be adapted too. The amount in the tier sentence then becomes the default value for markets without an exception, and a line under the sentence says so.
- Removing a market’s exception keeps its regional adaptations.

## Currencies

An exception’s amount is entered in that market’s currency, then converted to the currency the customer shops in.

For markets without an exception, the tier’s **Advanced options** card has **Automatically convert goal value to market's currency**: your store’s default currency is converted, with **Round up converted values to avoid showing decimal numbers** as an option. Left unticked, the value is shown as is, in the market’s currency format.

## Gift removal and success message per market

An exception also carries the tier’s after-reach rules: **Then remove the gift from the cart** for a gift tier, **Then hide the success message** for a text tier.

- With **the next goal is reached**, the chip shows which tier and which amount apply on that market. With no active tier above on that market, it says the rule has no effect there.
- An exception that drops a rule the tier has turns yellow with “· gift kept” or “· message kept”, and a line under the rule lists those markets. To apply the rule everywhere, reopen the exception and tick it again.
- With **an amount is reached**, an exception with no amount of its own uses its market’s, then the tier’s. If none has one, the save is refused until you enter an amount.

## Check in the preview

Opening a chip switches the preview to that market or country, so you see the bar as those customers will while you set the amount. The preview’s market selector also works on its own.
