# How to save and publish progress bar changes in Yaco

> Changes stay a draft until you click Save. Saving updates the live bar and the Shopify discounts behind your tiers; daily backups let you roll back.

## Save your changes

Every change on the **Goals & Discounts** and **Design** pages is a draft until you save it. As soon as something changes, Shopify's save bar appears at the top of the admin with two buttons:

- **Save** applies the changes to your store. A **Configuration saved!** message confirms it.
- **Cancel** discards everything since the last save.

The preview on the right shows your draft, so you can check it before saving.

## What saving does

Saving does more than store your settings:

- The bar on your store shows the new tiers, texts and design.
- For each free gift, percentage off or amount off tier in **Goal + automatic discount** mode, the app creates or updates the matching Shopify automatic discount. You do not need to create it yourself.
- A **Text goal** creates no discount: it only displays a message. See [free shipping bar](https://www.yaco.studio/docs/free-shipping).
- A tier in **Goal only** mode creates no discount either: you set up the matching automatic discount yourself in Shopify **Discounts**.
- A tier switched off with **Disable this goal** disappears from the store, and its Shopify discount stops applying.

Shopify limits the number of active automatic discounts from apps to 25. If you reach this limit, the error message offers **See all Automatic Discounts** so you can clean up old ones.

## Publish the bar for the first time

Until you have an active plan, the bar is only visible in the theme editor or in development stores. During this phase, the top of the **Goals & Discounts** page also shows **Save & publish** (or **Publish** when nothing is pending): it saves your changes and opens the **Subscription** page. Choose a plan there to put the bar live. Plans and prices are on the [pricing page](https://www.yaco.studio/pricing).

If your plan includes fewer tiers than you configured, the extra active tiers are saved but stay invisible to your customers. A banner above the list shows how many tiers are live.

## If the save does not go through

A save is refused when a setting is invalid. The app takes you to the first tier or bar in error, and the message stays under the field concerned until you fix it. Correct it, then click **Save** again.

Placements are saved separately: in the theme editor, the Yaco menu has its own **Save** button, and imports from the **Theme integration** page are saved right away. See [place the bar in your theme](https://www.yaco.studio/docs/theme-placement).

## Restore a previous version

The app keeps backups of your configuration. Open **Settings**, section **Backups**.

- A backup is created each day your configuration changes. Backups are kept 7 days after being replaced, and the most recent one is always kept.
- Click **Restore…** on a backup, then choose the **Categories to restore**: **Progress bar (goals & design)**, **Theme integrations**, **A/B tests**, **Recommendations**, **Checkout**.
- Before restoring, the app saves your current configuration (entry **Before restore**), so a restore can be undone.

Restoring theme integrations or A/B tests can disturb an A/B test in progress: its variants may point to placements that no longer match. If you work with an AI assistant through [Connect AI](https://www.yaco.studio/ai-connect), it can also take a manual backup before a large change.
