# How to uninstall Yaco Progress Bar and what happens to your data

> Uninstall from the app Settings to clean up first. Your setup is kept for 48 hours in case you reinstall, then all store data is permanently deleted and the subscription ends.

## Uninstall the app cleanly

Uninstall from the app itself: it removes data that Shopify does not delete on its own, then hands over to Shopify.

1. Open **Settings** in the app menu, then the **Uninstall** section.
2. Click **Clean up & uninstall the app**.
3. Confirm with **Clean up & continue**. The app deletes the text entries (metaobjects) it created in your store for your texts and their translations.
4. You are redirected to the Shopify admin: finish the uninstall there.

You can also uninstall directly from the apps list of the Shopify admin. The bar is removed the same way, but those text entries stay in your store's custom data until you delete them.

## What stops when you uninstall

- The bar and the recommendation blocks no longer show on your store.
- Your subscription ends automatically: the **Subscription** page shows it as **Automatic unsubscription on uninstall**. You do not need to unsubscribe first.

## What happens to your data

| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| First 48 hours after uninstalling | Your setup is kept: tiers, bars, designs and the rest of your configuration. |
| Reinstall within 48 hours | You find your bar exactly as you left it. |
| After 48 hours | All the store's data is permanently deleted: configuration, statistics, A/B tests and configuration backups. |
| Reinstall after 48 hours | The app starts from scratch with a new default configuration. Nothing can be restored. |

The deletion after 48 hours follows Shopify's data erasure request for uninstalled apps. It cannot be undone, and the daily backups listed in **Settings** under **Backups** are deleted with the rest.

Even while the app is installed, detailed statistics are kept for 60 days at most.

## Before you uninstall

- **Uninstalling to fix a problem?** Write to support@yaco.studio first, with your store URL and your theme name: reinstalling after 48 hours means rebuilding your setup.
- **Need a copy of your setup?** Take screenshots or notes of your tiers and designs: after 48 hours, there is no backup left to restore.
- **Changing theme?** You do not need to uninstall. Set the bar up on the new theme instead. See [theme placement](https://www.yaco.studio/docs/theme-placement).

## Reinstall

Install the app again from the Shopify App Store and check that the app embed is on in the theme editor. Within 48 hours, your configuration is back as it was. After that, follow [install](https://www.yaco.studio/docs/install) to start again.
