How to see the impact of the progress bar on average order value

The app home page shows average order value, orders, revenue and how often carts reach a tier, over up to 60 days, with a cart distribution chart that draws your tiers.

Where to find your statistics

Your statistics are on the home page of the app: click the app name in the Shopify admin. Other figures live next to the feature they measure:

  • recommendation blocks: the Analytics tab of Recommendations (see recommendations);
  • A/B tests: the Results tab of each test (see A/B testing).

Filters

At the top of the page, choose:

  • a market, or All markets;
  • the period: Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 60 days;
  • Current period, to include the day in progress.

The longest period is 60 days.

Key figures

  • Average Order Value, Total orders and Total revenue, computed from your Shopify orders.
  • Conversion rate: the tiers reached divided by the times the bar was displayed. It is measured on your storefront, so it only shows on the All markets view.

Badges compare average order value, revenue and conversion rate with the previous period of the same length, except on the 60-day view.

The chart below plots average order value over time. On the right axis, show Orders, Revenue or Conversion rate, and group points by 1-Day or 7-Day.

Cart distribution: place your tiers

The Cart Distribution chart spreads your orders by cart value and draws your tiers on top. It shows where most carts land compared with each threshold: a tier far above most carts is rarely reached, and a tier below most carts rewards orders that would have happened anyway.

The scale and the Hide top X% mask adjust automatically each time the data loads:

  • the mask cuts off the largest orders so the bulk of the distribution stays readable. It never hides more than 10% of orders, and it switches to Show all if it would hide a tier that orders reach;
  • a tier above your largest order of the period is not drawn, since no order reaches it. If you do not see your highest tier, this is why;
  • when you pick a scale or a mask yourself, your choice stays until you reload the page.

Sales by traffic source

If one of your tiers targets a traffic source (UTM parameters), a Sales by traffic source card lists orders, revenue and the share of orders that reached a tier for each source. The No source row is the rest of your store over the same period. See targeting.

What is the tier crossing rate?

The tier crossing rate is the share of shopping sessions that saw a tier within reach (the bar was showing, the cart was not empty and the tier was not yet reached) and then reached that same tier in the same session. Empty carts are left out.

It is different from the Conversion rate tile, which divides tiers reached by every display of the bar, empty carts included. The two figures do not compare.

This rate is descriptive: it tells you what carts that see the bar do, not what the bar caused. To measure the effect of the bar itself, run an A/B test with a group that sees no bar.

If the statistics do not load

The message about a missing read_orders permission means the app cannot read your orders, so order-based figures cannot be computed. Write to [email protected] with your store URL.
